UMaine Team, Crowned Maine College Champions...Advances to National Championship in Oklahoma ..
University of Maine team anglers Brian Volkernick and Sullivan Tidd have qualified for The Carhartt Bassmaster College National Championship to be held on Lake Tenkiller, Oklahoma later in July. The team competed at the Thomas Behen Memorial Open on Pleasant Pond on April 29 and finished with 10 pounds.
The UMaine team is holding a fundraiser on July 8th at Three Mile Pond in Vassalboro. That event will be a Big Bass event with 4 weigh-in periods during the day. Should be a fun interesting event, a first of it's kind in Maine as far we know. The event will help with expenses for the trip to Oklahoma. Congrats to the team and brin g home that National trophy!
UMaine Big Bass Dash for Cash on 3 Mile Pond
Come fish the Big Bass Event July 8th on 3 Mile Pond. the event will run from 730-330pm. There is a 33 boat maximum. Each team of 2 anglers will be allowed to weigh in 1 bass every 2 hours at the boat launch area weigh in site. The heaviest bass in each 2 hour period will win, prizes for 2nd and 3rd will also be given out. The overall Big Bass on the day will also get a cash prize. Come support the UMaine Bass Team.
B.A.S.S. announces College, High School national championship locations
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The national championship locations and dates for the 2018 Carhartt Bassmaster College Series presented by Bass Pro Shops and the Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster High School Series presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods have been released, B.A.S.S. announced today.
The Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops will be held on Lake Tenkiller out of Tahlequah, Okla., July 19-21. Tour Tahlequah, Cherokee Nation and Northeastern State University (NSU) will host the event.
“What an honor it is to have the city of Tahlequah chosen for the 2018 Bassmaster Collegiate Fishing Tournament,” said Aubrey Valdez, Tour Tahlequah assistant director. “We are gearing up for this event and are excited to show our Oklahoma hospitality to fishermen and spectators. We already have an enormous amount of support from Northeastern State University, Cherokee Nation, city officials and many others and know July will be here in a flash. We hope to make this a memorable occasion for everyone involved.”
In 2018, the College Series took on a new format, which enables college bass fishing teams to compete in a national tour comprising four tournaments (Eastern, Central, Western and Southern), providing higher payout incentives and more opportunities to qualify for the national championship.
In addition to the four events, the Bassmaster College Series partnered with the B.A.S.S. Nation to hold state-qualifying tournaments. Anglers are now able to compete for a berth in the national championship through their respective state’s event, as well. From the national championship, the Top 4 teams will compete in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Classic Bracket presented by Bass Pro Shops at a location to be later determined. Read more

The High School Series has been expanded to four Opens in 2018, and the Bassmaster College Series will showcase a new format enabling college bass fishing teams to compete in a national tour comprising four tournaments and the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops.
Through this year, a college team could only compete in the event within their regional “conference,” plus a wild card qualifier that gave anglers a second chance to reach the national championship. The 2018 college tour will consist of Central, Eastern, Western and Southern events — providing higher-payout incentives and more opportunities to qualify for the 2018 College Series National Championship.
The College Series tour will begin Jan. 25-27 at the Central qualifier on Toledo Bend Reservoir, Louisiana, which was recently ranked fourth in the Central Division of Bassmaster Magazine’s 100 Best Bass Lakes for 2017.. Read more
